It was the first loss for Senegal since a September loss to Niger in the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations. Senegal has been a really strong defensive team, allowing one or less goals in eight of its last nine matches, and that sort of pressure will give the Lions of Teranga a fighting chance in the upcoming tournament. You would like some of the playmakers get loose and provide a spark offensively, but this is a club that has an identity and is proven tough to beat when it sticks to it. Senegal is going to be a tough out no matter who it plays over the next month.

South Korea plays its last friendly match before running into Sweden for its World Cup debut. South Korea bounced back nicely from a tough loss to Bosnia and Herzegovina with a 0-0 draw against Bolivia. South Korea controlled possession for 58 percent of the match and didn’t allow a single shot on goal.

The Taegeuk Warriors were physical from the start, pressured defensively and provided the type of performance that could get this club out of the group stages for the second time in its last three World Cup appearances. Of course, South Korea is in a very tough group, so it’s easier said than done, but you have to be pleased with this clubs last performance as we gear up for the tournament that starts in less than a week.

South Korea won the most recent match against Senegal, 2-0, in a 2009 friendly match. The other contest was a 1-1 draw in a 2006 friendly match.

Senegal has proven to be one of the tougher defensive teams in the tournament and there’s no reason for this club to let up now. South Korea just shutouta decent Bolivia side and didn’t even allow a single shot on goal. Add in the fact that neither of these teams will be killing themselves with their matches right around the corner. This has the makings of a defensive battle. Give me a draw.
